The prose is truly lyrical and immersive and, echoing one of the novel's themes, time spent reading it somehow becomes immaterial. The characters - mortal and divine - are beautifully drawn, leaving readers with their own very clear image of all the protagonists (though, as a writer about the Argonauts, I particularly admired her portrayal of Meleager). And as for the plot twist... I doubt any readers will see this one coming!
